Newark, DE. â The University Museums of the University of Delaware host First Thursday Open Houses at each of their three galleries this semester, through December.
The next First Thursday Open House will occur in the Mineralogical Museum in Penny Hall (255 Academy Street) on the evening of November 6. Activities for this event were planned by undergraduates in a Museum Education and Outreach practicum, and are accessible by all.
First Thursdays will offer visitors from UD and the surrounding community an opportunity to take advantage of the museumsâ extended hours (open until 8 p.m.) and participate in informal discussions, guided tours, and other student-led activities in the galleries. Drop in any time between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. for a chance to meet your neighbors, talk about art and other objects, share stories, and discover common connections to the remarkable objects on display each semester.
First Thursdays are ideal for new or returning visitors from UD and the surrounding community to learn what University Museums have to offer each semester. Our final First Thursday Open House of the semester will occur on December 4 in Old College Gallery.
Admission to all University Museums events is free.
