John Callahan selected to the DRBC Advisory Committee on Climate Change

DGS scientist John Callahan was selected as a member of the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) Advisory Committee on Climate Change (ACCC).  John was selected as one of nine non-reserve members, to serve along with nine reserve members, to make up the 18-member committee. Each member of the ACCC maintains relevant climate expertise, representing various government, watershed, academic, business, and water user perspectives throughout the Delaware River Basin within the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Joining John on the ACCC from the State of Delaware is Dr. Robert Scarborough, Environmental Program Manager, Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy, DNREC.

The ACCC is a new committee, recently established in December 2019, formed to "provide the [DRBC] and the basin community with scientifically based information for identifying and prioritizing these threats, which include salinity impacts from sea level rise and changes in the seasonality and volume of streamflows, as well as recommendations for mitigation, adaptation and improved resiliency."
