GIS Analyst position available at DGS

The Delaware Geological Survey (DGS,, located at the University of Delaware, seeks a highly skilled individual for a GIS Analyst position.   The Analyst will focus efforts on a program that complements DGS’s leadership in geological, natural hazard, and flood mapping; and will lead activities in compiling, processing, and distribution of lidar-based elevation and geologic data resources.  The primary goals for this position are 1) to generate hydrologically conditioned digital elevation models (DEMs) to support hydrologic analysis in the state of Delaware, and 2) the management, analysis, and distribution of topographic contours, DEMs, and other Earth science geospatial data that benefit the public at large, the business community, and agencies at all levels of government within Delaware.  

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in geography, Earth science, engineering, or related field with four years of technical experience (professional, consultative, or academic) designing, constructing, managing, analyzing, or distributing geospatial Earth science information.  Candidates should also have demonstrated experience with performing hydrologic conditioning of DEMs, geospatial processing, QA/QC of topographic contours and other elevation datasets, GIS/spatial data management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong oral and written communication skills.
