DGS presentation to Delaware River Basin Commission Water Management Advisory Committee on Groundwater Monitoring

A.Scott Andres presented an invited talk “Update on Groundwater Monitoring in Delaware” at the Groundwater Management Workshop sponsored by the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) in West Trenton, NJ on October 22, 2015. The Workshop was organized by the Water Management Advisory Committee of DRBC and included presentations on groundwater management programs by representatives of state environmental regulatory agencies of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, the New Jersey Pinelands Commission, and the New Jersey Highlands Commission.

The talk by Andres touched on current status of groundwater monitoring systems in Delaware, influences of geology on monitoring strategies, progress in acquiring funding to improve monitoring infrastructure, and how findings from a recently completed monitoring infrastructure construction project done in southern New Castle County have influenced water management for the state.

Participation in these types of workshops keeps DGS informed of advances in groundwater science and management in the region. This information is used to improve our data collection and assessment programs and also is shared with our many stakeholders .
