The Delaware Geological Survey released a new Open File Report titled “Groundwater Monitoring Procedures Part 1: Equipment and Procedures for Manual and Automated Field Measurement of Groundwater Levels in Dedicated Monitoring Wells,” which was prepared by A. Scott Andres, Changming He, and Thomas E. McKenna of the Survey. Drawn from decades of experience as well as from standard methods used by others, DGS Open File Report No. 51 documents procedures and equipment used for field monitoring of groundwater levels in wells that are part of the Delaware Groundwater Monitoring Network. An additional report that documents the software and data processing and data-management methods is currently in preparation.
The report fulfills part of the DGS’s mission to understand hydrologic systems and to advise, inform, and educate Delawareans about the results of such investigations so they can serve as a resource for scientists, engineers, planners, emergency managers, and the public.
Open File Report No. 51 is available in pdf format from the DGS web site at http://www.dgs.udel.edu/publications. For additional information, contact the Survey at (302) 831-2833 or via email at delgeosurvey@udel.edu.
