New digital water quality dataset released

Date

DGS has released a new dataset “The Determination of Total Nutrient Loads from the Nanticoke Watershed above the USGS Nanticoke River near Bridgeville Gauging Site (01487000) from Data Provided by an Automated Nutrient Analyzer “.

DGS releases two new datasets

Date

DGS has released two new datasets. One dataset is a spreadsheet format file containing results of hydraulic tests from Appendix 3 of the soon to published DGS Open File Report No. 53, “Kent County groundwater monitoring project: results of subsurface exploration“.

New groundwater quality project

Date

In cooperation with DelDOT, DGS is investigating the physical and chemical impacts of de-icing practices (salting and brining) and stormwater infiltration best management practices (BMP) on groundwater.

DGS joins Project WiCCED

Date

DGS staff members Rachel McQuiggan and Scott Andres are participants in a new National Science Foundation EPSCoR – funded effort, Water in the Changing Coastal Environment of Delaware (Project WiCCED).

DGS participates in inter-agency meeting on Chesapeake Watershed

Date

DGS staff member A. Scott Andres made a presentation “Results of selected UD nutrient monitoring projects in the Nanticoke River watershed” at the inter-agency meeting Chesapeake basin water quality data, trends, and interpretations held August 11, 2016 at the Delaware Department of Agriculture in Dover.

B21D Using Numerical Models to Assess a Rapid Infiltration Basin System (RIBS), Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware

The long-term performance of rapid infiltration basin systems (RIBS) and their potential impacts on the receiving environment have been previously unknown for Delaware. A variety of field experiments were conducted to characterize the geology and hydrogeology of a RIBS facility that has been in operation for more than 20 years at Cape Henlopen State Park. Pairs of standard monitoring wells and short-screened multi-level wells were used to evaluate the significance of small-scale vertical variability in water quality.

Delaware Geological Survey Issues Report on Hydrogeologic Impacts of Rapid Infiltration Basin Systems

Date

The Delaware Geological Survey released a new technical report entitled “Hydrogeology of a Rapid Infiltration Basin Systems at Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware” which was prepared by A. Scott Andres and Changming He of the Delaware Geological Survey, Edward Walther of the South Water Management District, Florida, and Müserref Türkmen of the Izmir Water and Sewerage Administration, Turkey, and DGS Bulletin 21B documents the results of a detailed study of groundwater and hydrogeology at a rapid infiltration basin system.
