Steven V. Bertsche has been the System Administrator for the Delaware Geological Survey since September, 2004 providing network and desktop computer support. This is his second stint at the university as he was previously employed in a variety of technical capacities from 1981 through 1996.

Mr. Bertsche has ushered in recent technology advances including the introduction of virtual servers using VMware ESX virtualization software, the relocation of DGS servers to a new physical location, and the installation of a new digital copier that also functions as a network document production center and as a scanner.

Mr. Bertsche received both the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Music Theory/Composition from Illinois State University and was a member of the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He served as a member of the ANSI committee that developed the HyTime (ISO-10744) and Standard Music Description Language (ISO-10743) international standards. As a software developer, he created educational applications in the areas of music theory and ear-training, basic musicianship, jazz, and foreign language.

Current professional activities include work with virtual servers and developing database applications.
