Expertise

Peter P. McLaughlin joined the staff of the Delaware Geological Survey as a Senior Scientist in June, 1999, after working ten years in research and exploration in the oil industry. Dr. McLaughlin was raised in Dover, Delaware and holds a B.S. in Geology from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Geology from Louisiana State University.

Dr. McLaughlin's primary research interests are sequence stratigraphy, micropaleontology, ground water and clastic depositional systems. His projects utilize many of the tools and techniques used in the oil industry to address ground-water issues of importance to Delaware.

Dr. McLaughlin has had a secondary faculty appointment as Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences, UD College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment.
