EXPERTISE

Miriam L. Pomilio joined the Delaware Geological Survey in 2005. Her area of expertise is Geographic Information Systems.

Ms. Pomilio is currently working with the Delaware DataMIL, an Internet Mapping Service (IMS) web site, which serves the Spatial Data Framework layers for the State of Delaware. Her primary activities center around stabilizing the site, updating framework data on a regular basis, establishing agreements with each of the Data Stewards, and improving the mapping functions.

In addition to the DataMIL, Ms. Pomilio is very active in education and public outreach. She has co-presented many workshops for Delaware's K-12 teachers to promote the incorporation of GIS technology into their curriculum. Ms. Pomilio has also volunteered to assist the Delaware 4-H youth with the GIS needs of their Alert, Evacuate, and Shelter Project. This project is designed to introduce youth to the concept of a Community Readiness Network.
