EXPERTISE


Kelvin W. Ramsey joined the Delaware Geological Survey in 1987. He has served as a Research Associate II & III, Associate Scientist and Scientist. Mr. Ramsey's areas of expertise include Sedimentology and Stratigraphy as related to research and applied studies of the Atlantic Coastal Plain.

Dr. Ramsey's current research includes surficial geologic mapping of the Delaware. Other research interests include the record of Holocene sea-level rise in Delaware and the late Tertiary and Quaternary geology of the mid-Atlantic region. He also studies historic hurricanes and their effect on Delaware and the mid-Atlantic region, as well as assessing coastal changes after storms.

Dr. Ramsey is a member of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency Technical Assessment Center and provides scientific information during storm events. He also is involved in assessment of offshore sand resources in federal waters which may be used for beach nourishment.

Dr. Ramsey has a secondary appointment as Professor in the College of Marine and Earth Studies.
